Rep. Peter King Questions Timing of Petraeus Affair Revelation
In light of General David Petraeus’ revelation of an extramarital affair, will the CIA director be called to testify at the hearing on the Libya attack? Congressman Peter King is the chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee. He said on America’s News HQ today that he believes Petraeus has to testify because he was the person who was involved at the time of the attack.
Rep. King called Petraeus a “great American hero” but says that only he would know exactly what happened in the days after the U.S. consulate attack in Benghazi.
He questioned why the FBI was investigating Petraeus in the first place if they claim it has nothing to do with terrorism or intelligence. The congressman also wondered about the timing of the resignation, if the administration knew about the affair beforehand.
Moving on the recovery efforts on Long Island after Hurricane Sandy, Rep. King expressed his frustrations that so many others are feeling. He said, "The Long Island Power Authority (LIPA) has done a terrible job. Listen, I was out [of power] for seven days. I can understand people being without power, but the fact is now it’s almost two weeks after the storm, we still have over a hundred thousand customers are deprived of power and they’re not giving any indication when they’re going to get the power back.”
