Libertarian Presidential Candidate Gary Johnson on 'Stossel': In America Today, 'You Can Vote Yourself a Raise'
Thursday night on the Fox Business Network's Stossel, Libertarian Party presidential candidate Gary Johnson talked about the results of the election. Johnson received more than 1.1 million votes on Tuesday, the most ever by a Libertarian candidate.
Johnson took questions from the audience, including from one man who asked what will happen when the country reaches a point where over half of its people are receiving benefits from the government.
"There is this notion that we're a democracy. We're not a democracy. We're a constitutional republic. Because in a democracy you can vote yourself a raise, and I think that's where we've gotten to in this country," he said.
Johnson said Mitt Romney's stances on social issues were not truly conservative and "scared most Americans," specifically his views on immigration, women's rights, and same-sex marriage.
