In discussing General Petraeus’ resignation today as director of the CIA, Charles Krauthammer first reflected on what is the end of the career of a “truly great American.”

Krauthammer also asserted that despite the fact that Petraeus will no longer testify in next week’s hearings on the Benghazi attack, there is no way that this will get in the way of the Benghazi story getting out. He said, “In an odd way, and sort of a discouraging way, now that the story is attached to a sex scandal, it will become a story that will be pursued by the media as was not pursued

before.”

“Given the nature of our journalism, it will now become the hottest story around and you can be sure that even the mainstream papers […] are going to get on it now," he said.
