At 8:00p ET Saturday, Mitt Romney spoke to constituents on his second-place finish in the South Carolina primary.

First, Romney thanked his supporters for their hard work and help, including South Carolina Governor Nikki Hayley, “I owe her so very much for her help."

The former governor then went on to congratulate Speaker Gingrich, who won the South Carolina primary, on “a hard fought campaign." He continued, “we are three contests into a long primary season - this is a hard fight because there is so much worth fighting for.”

Moving on to Florida, the next battleground state, Romney said it is a place that has “suffered greatly under the policies of President Obama.”

“This election is a battle for the soul of America,” Romney said, referring to Obama’s failed 2008 election promises. “It’s a choice between two different destinies for America. President Obama wants to fundamentally transform our country. We want to restore to America the founding principles that made this country great and the hope of the Earth!”
