Hurricane Irene Expected to Cause Cell Phone Problems, Companies Prepare With Generators and 24-Hour Crews
From subways to trains and airplanes, it looks like there are cancellations all over the board when it comes to mass transportation all over the East Coast. But one of the other many concerns this weekend involves what will happen to cell phone service when Hurricane Irene hits?
Trace Gallagher reports that 25 percent of all households in the U.S. rely on cellphones. AT&T, Sprint, Nextel, and Verizon are all beefing up their generators at cell phone towers, and crews are on 24-hour standby.
