As the August 2nd deadline looms, Greta talks to Arizona Senator Jon Kyl (R) about how the 2009 stimulus bill could have been more effective for the nation’s economy and helped with this recession.

Jon Kyl says, “This is a different kind of recession and it’s not one in which consumer demand is driving recovery. That’s why the Bush stimulus didn’t work, the Obama stimulus didn’t work. When you take a trillion dollars and basically try to get people to spend and it doesn’t move the numbers at all, in fact now were at a two percent of growth of GDP and the last quarter of 2009 we were at almost six percent of growth of GDP. So, we’ve actually gone downhill.”

“The stimulus did not help, all it did was add to our debt.” Hear what else Jon Kyl had to say.
